Getting Over Mommy
Time Guilt
When a woman chooses
to work at
home, she often decides that this will be the best move
for both her and her family. She is encouraged by the idea that
she will be able to spend more time with her husband, as well as
with her children. She may have decided to take her children
out of daycare to see that she raises them at home. There’s no
doubt that women who choose to
work from home
place a great emphasis on spending quality time with their
families. That’s why it should come as no surprise that these
same women may feel guilty when they decide to spend time on
themselves.
Balancing
both work and family can be a struggle or a challenge.
However, women are practiced at the art of wearing hats. When a
woman finishes her work related responsibilities she typically
puts on her
mommy hat. She may pick up the children from school,
bake cookies, bring them to soccer or ballet practice, help them
with their homework, and make sure they have all of their needs
met before they retire for the evening. If that isn’t enough,
she must also wear the wife hat.
Taking care of her
husband and meeting his needs is another priority. This may
include cooking, cleaning, and just being there to spend time
with her spouse. Every woman learns that if she does not spend
quality time with her husband, her marriage will suffer. So
where does a woman find
time to spend on
herself?
The truth is that most
women don’t. They are so busy meeting everyone else’s needs
that they simply fail to meet their own. However, this is not
healthy and will have negative consequences in the long run. It
is important for a woman to take some “Mommy
time” each day. If this means that she wakes up early,
or stays up a bit later than she should do this. She can also
ask her husband to help ensure that she gets some time to
herself. When a wife spends plenty of time with her husband, he
will understand that it is important that she takes
time for herself as well. Your husband should have no
problem watching the children for you so you can get some time
to relax. Maybe you will want to go shopping, or enjoy a movie
with a friend. Your idea of
mommy time
may be something as simple as reading a book or taking a bubble
bath. It doesn’t matter what you do, just that you do something
that relaxes you and helps you relieve the stress and pressure
that comes along with the many hats you wear.
As a
working mom,
you must take time to relax. It is very easy to continually
find something else to do. Chores, cleaning, work, taking care
or the kids, or doing laundry are tasks that will always be
there. If you continually think that you can’t take a break
until the always be there waiting to be completed. You have to
set time aside to spend on yourself and you should not feel
guilty about it.

many times have we opted for fast food for lunch or dinner
instead of cooking? There’s no telling how much money we’ve
spent on that one meal that easily becomes a few (or more) meals
a week. Instead of picking up that telephone and calling for
delivery pizza, get the
family together and make one at home.
